BADGER — A Webster County woman has won a $100,000 lottery prize. Deana Gudmonson, of Badger, won the seventh top prize in the Iowa Lottery’s X the Money scratch game. She purchased her winning ticket at Kwik Star, 150 E. U.S. Highway 18 in Garner and claimed her prize Oct. 9.
A ban on open burning in Kossuth County was lifted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, according to the county Sheriff’s Office. It was imposed about a month ago in response to hot, dry and windy weather.
A Fort Dodge woman has pleaded guilty to setting an apartment on fire in January, according to court records. Megan S. Freeman, 34, pleaded guilty to second degree arson, those records indicate. She is accused of setting a fire in a second story apartment at 211 N. 12th St on the afternoon of Jan. 26. That apartment sustained serious fire damage, while the rest of the second floor sustained heat and smoke damage. No one was injured.
