Three local agencies that help people in need of shelter have received grants from the Iowa Finance Authority.
Upper Des Moines Opportunity Inc. was awarded a $158,400 Emergency Solutions Grant. Those grants are intended to help people quickly get back into permanent housing through programs like rental assistance, emergency shelter and case management services.
The Domestic/Sexual Assault Outreach Center in Fort Dodge received a $37,750 Shelter Assistance Fund Grant.
The Fort Dodge Housing Agency received a $15,500 Shelter Assistance Fund Grant.
The Shelter Assistance Fund provides money to help with the cost of operating homeless or domestic violence shelters.
