Super Bowl score — Business: Wins; Customer: Wins

Local restaurants see larger crowds for the big game

When people think of Super Bowl Sunday, it's likely that among the things that come to mind are football, music and commercials.

But the other common aspect of the Super Bowl that people will likely think about is food.

And in Fort Dodge, a number of local pizza places say they're usually quite busy on Super Bowl Sunday.

At Domino's, shift runner Tristan Isaacson said they usually see a lot of people ordering food on that day.

"Usually we do," he said. "Although these last couple years it hasn't been extremely busy."

In terms of what people are ordering, Isaacson said there are two items that stand out.

"I'd probably say the large pizzas and wings are generally the biggest items on Super Bowl Sunday," he said.

Ryan Sodders, kitchen manager at Community Tap & Pizza, said Sunday was his first time working while the Super Bowl was going on.

But the restaurant had big plans for the night.

"Actually, we're having a little bit of a Super Bowl party," he said. "We have free food that we're going to be giving out and stuff."

Much like Domino's, Sodders said there was one particular item that was popular.

"Today thus far I've sold a whole bunch of chicken wings," Sodders said.

That was the same case at Marco's Pizza, where general manager Billy Jack said wings were the most popular item he'd seen being ordered Sunday.

It also happened to be a very busy day.

"It's been pretty steady," he said. "And you can definitely tell when it was right before the game and when the game started."

To help prepare for hungry football watchers, Jack said Marco's makes sure the customers' orders are all ready to go when they call for their pizzas.

"We always pre-stretch stuff as it comes up," he said. "We're just a couple minutes ahead. We have everything ready so when people order it, we have it ready and made to order for them."
