MASON CITY — The Fort Dodge girls tennis team picked up an 8-3 victory over Mason City here Tuesday night.

Manuela Rodriguez, Amy Muftillaeva, Grace Behrens, Lacey Larson and Madge Hensley were all winners in singles. In doubles, Rodriguez/Behrens, Claire Thompson and Kam Gochee, and Grace Rivera and Mia Carpenter were doubles winners.

“It was a good night for the girls,” FDSH head coach Julie Astor said. “They won some close matches and lost a couple tough ones. I thought Manuela did a nice job in the No. 1 spot against a girl that was tough to put away.”

The doubles teams of Muftillaeva and Hensley, along with Larson and Kaitlyn Folsom, dropped tiebreakers.

Earning junior varsity wins were Meah McCaleb and Edyn Witham, Aveah Lee and Taylor Martin, Taylor Cote and Martin, and Teagan Loots and Harper Sandahl.

Fort Dodge hosts Des Moines Roosevelt on Thursday and travels to Spencer on Friday. They return to Spencer Saturday for the Dennis Price Invitational.
