The Fort Dodge volleyball team gained a little momentum here Saturday in their final match at the Iowa Alliance Conference gold tournament.

Following a pair of losses to open pool play, the Dodgers pulled out a three-set victory over Des Moines Lincoln.

Scores were 23-25, 25-18 and 15-9.

Ottumwa, who claimed the IAC South division title during the regular season, swept North division winner Ames in the championship match by scores of 25-20, 25-19. Des Moines Roosevelt downed Marshalltown for third in straight sets.

Fort Dodge (9-21 overall) lost to Marshalltown in the first match of the day, 21-8, 21-11, and followed that up with a straight-set loss to Ottumwa, 21-9, 21-13.

The Dodgers now put their focus on Tuesday night when they travel to Storm Lake (14-10) in a Class 4A, Region 2 opener. The winner of that contest advances to play MOC-Floyd-Valley on Thursday in a semifinal contest.
