Gael girls blank Indians

POCAHONTAS — A night ahead of their home debut, the eighth-ranked (Class 1A) St. Edmond softball team jumped all over Pocahontas Area here Thursday night, winning 14-0 in three innings.

Hadley Oswald and Lauren Gibb each drove in two runs, Faith Shirbroun scored three times and Anna Kolacia was 3-for-3 at the plate for the Gaels (2-1 overall), who have won 12 of 13 meetings with the Indians and each of the last five.

All nine St. Edmond batters who had an at-bat in the game recorded a hit, with Shirbroun and Ansley Oswald each getting two.

“It was great to see us carry that momentum over from Wednesday and have another big night at the plate,” SEHS head coach Bill Shirbroun said. “Everybody was really clicking and we were able to put together some big innings.”

Ansley Oswald stole three bases and Shirbroun had two.

In the circle, Shirbroun pitched two innings and Kaili Henning tossed one, striking out all three batters she faced.

The Gaels host Clear Lake Friday night at Rogers Park beginning at 7:30 p.m.
