Wildcats stay perfect

HUMBOLDT — Top-ranked Humboldt remained unbeaten with a hard fought 24-14 victory over No. 5 North Polk in Friday night’s Homecoming contest.

The Wildcats (6-0 overall, 2-0 in district), who have won 17 straight regular season games, had 290 yards of total offense and held North Polk (4-2, 1-1) to 152.

The Comets got on the board first on a two-yard run from Brady Miller. Humboldt got on the board in the second quarter ona four-yard Lnce Coon run.

Trever Beach kicked his fifth field goal on the season as the buzzer sounded in the first half. Beach kicked a 39-yard shot, which is his longest of the season.

Miller recorded his second touchdown of the game on a 36-yard pass from Austin Parkins.

Humboldt took the lead for good as Will Orness connected with Corey Dettmann for a 12-yard score.

Orness added an eight-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Coon finished the contest with 119 yards on 33 carries. Orness had 20 carries for 63 yards.

Orness was 9-for-11 passing for 110 yards. Beach caught five passes for 71 yards.

Josh Beldin wiht 6.5 tackles. Dettmann and Owen Hubbell had four each.

Mustangs lose ranked contest

NEWELL — Top-ranked Remsen St. Mary’s rolled past fourth-ranked Newell-Fonda, 61-13 on Friday night.

Mason Dicks had a 48-yard touchdown pass to Trenton Struss, his first catch of the season for the Mustangs (5-1 overall, 3-1 in district. Struss also had a 19-yard touchdown jaunt.

Ryan Greenfield finished with 17 carries for 68 yards and eight tackles. He caught six balls for 39 yards.

Dicks was 13-for-19 for 185 yards against Remsen St. Mary’s (6-0, 4-0), who has won 51 regular season games.

Zach Mercer had four grabs for 76 yards.

Cherry rushes for 344 yards LEMARS — Jaxon Cherry put together another monster game and the Webster City football team remained unbeaten in district play, besting LeMars here Friday night, 28-7.

Cherry ran for 29 carries for 344 and scored four touchdowns, with 233 yards and three of those scores coming in the first half as the Lynx built a commanding 21-7 lead.

Webster City improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in district, as the defending league champions return home to host Spencer next week. The Tigers knocked off Fort Dodge last night, 49-14, and are also unbeaten in district play.

No. 9 Cowboys stop Southeast Valley

GOWRIE — Ninth-ranked Clarion-Goldfield-Dows knocked off Southeast Valley 24-8 on Friday night.

Preston Gardner had two touchdowns for the Cowboys (5-1 overall, 2-1 in district). Ethan Traub also had a touchdown.

Carl Berglund had the lone touchdown for the Jaguaars (2-4, 0-3) from 36 yards out. Berglund finished with 75 yards on 15 carries.

Dalton Crouse had 14 carries for 75 yrds.

Justin Loseke had six tackles, while Michael Eslick had five and a sack.

Clarion-Goldfield/Dows had 339 yards of total offense.
