‘Play Like A Champion’ bringing guests to SE

Through the Play Like A Champion Student Group, four unique individuals will be offering their insights to St. Edmond students.

A kickoff meeting is set for Monday at 1 p.m. at the back parking lot of the school. The first guest will be David Dinuzzo, who is an international speaker and teacher of theology.

“We are excited to start up the Play Like A Champion Student Group for this coming school year,” SEHS activities and athletic director David Flattery said. “The mission of the group will be to provide fellowship to our high school kids through discussions on faith, character building, life skills and navigating the world culture of today.”

After the first meeting, the other three events will all take place after school beginning at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Dalton Lehnen, who played collegiate baseball at the University of Cincinnati and Augustana University before being drafted by the New York Yankees, is scheduled for September 21.

On October 26, Play Like A Champion staff member and former collegiate athletics administrator Pete Piscitello will attend.

The final event is set for November 9 with St. Edmond, Iowa Central and University of Northern Iowa graduate Tim Flattery speaking. Flattery is also the host of “The Moonlight Graham Podcast,” and was a standout multi-sport athlete for the Gaels.

“Each meeting will be roughly 45 minutes and consist of discussions, activities, guest speakers and student-led talks,” Flattery said. “We’ve got an amazing lineup set and hope to ignite fellowship within our student body.”

All students in grades 9-12 at St. Edmond are welcome to attend.
