North Union 4th in 2A

The 2022 softball season presented plenty of memorable moments for North Union.

And while it didn’t end the way the Warriors wanted, they were still proud to return home with a fourth place trophy in Class 2A.

No. 1 Central Springs topped second-ranked North Union for the second time this season, 9-3, in the third place game here Friday afternoon at Rogers Park.

Beth Streuber and Emily Meyer each had two hits for the Warriors, who reached the semifinals for the first time earlier this week. Streuber, Libby Stevens and Sam Nielsen each scored a run.

Seniors Nielsen, Cassie Beadle and Maggie Engelby graduate for North Union, who also advanced to state last year.

Lizzy Hamand had a home run, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and four runs scored.

Abby Pate and Carly Ryan each drove in two. Aurora Stapleton and Pate had two hits.
