Rossmanith earns two wins

IOWA FALLS — Zach Rossmanith had a strong debut to the new year, picking up two victories for the St. Edmond wrestling team.

The Gaels lost both duals in the triangular, while picking up six victories on the night.

St. Edmond lost to Iowa Falls-Alden (45-24) and Roland Story (70-11).

“It was a disappointing evening for us,” said St. Edmond head coach Eugene Carlson. “Over the break, we were working on some things to make us a little tougher and it seemed like it didn’t work out for us.”

Rossmanith and his brother Tyler Rossmanith both earned falls in the dual over the Cadets.

Zach pinned Gage Love in 2:57 at 170 pounds and Tyler earned a fall over Leiland Brown in two minutes at 160 pounds.

“I was very happy for Zach,” Carlson said. “The brothers (Zach and Tyler) switched weights and it absolutely seemed to help.”

Grant Webster (182) and Adam Walker (195) earned forfeit victories for the Gaels.

In the dual against Roland-Story, Zach Rossmanith pinned Charlie Watts in 1:03 at 170 pounds.

The other victory for St. Edmond came from freshman Sam Myer at 132 pounds. Myer earned a 19-3 tech fall victory in 4:04 over Isaac Hall.

“We have got to change some things,” Carlson said. “We need to have better mental attitudes to help us change the way we wrestle on the mat.”

St. Edmond will host the Vinnie Harvey wrestling tournament on Friday. Action will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the St. Edmond high school gym.

St. Edmond will be back in action on Saturday when they host the St. Edmond Duals.
