Tritons split with Iowa Lakes
ESTHERVILLE — After a tough oepning game loss to Iowa Lakes here Thursday, the Iowa Central softball team rebounded in impressive fashion.
Tied at 4-all in the seventh, the Tritons exploded for six runs, securing a split with a 10-4 victory.
Iowa Lakes won the opener, 8-0, behind a no-hitter by Lexi Chase.
A two-run homer by Kenzie Rosenboom and a solo shot from Carlie Thompson helped spark the big inning. Rosenboom finished with two hits and four RBI while Thompson had three hits and drove in two.
Abby Wilson was 3-for-4 with a run and an RBI with Rachel Newell scoring three times. Newell, Thompson and Mady Lange all stole a base for the Tritons (20-12 overall, 14-4 in ICCAC).
Madison Huisman went the distance inside the circle, striking out eight.
In the opener, Mikhaela Muir had six strikeouts and Abbie Thilges drew a walk.
Iowa Central welcomes sixth-ranked Des Moines Area for a weekend series beginning Saturday at Rogers Park.
