SE’s Lemberg golden at GC meet

JEFFERSON — St. Edmond freshman Reese Lemberg had a sparkling debut in her first career varsity track meet on Monday.

Lemberg, who was part of St. Edmond’s state cross country squad this past fall, won the 3,000 event at Greene County.

“It was awesome to see Reese run confidently to take the gold,” said SEHS head coach Monica Shelly. “We still have some pace issues to work out and work on our 200 splits, but it was nice to see her come out strong.”

The Gaels turned in three second-place performances and five bronze medal showings as well.

The 4×200 relay team of Avery Galles, Kiara Baker, Aleah Anderson and Mya McClain grabbed silver.

Also finishing second was Aubrey Bemrich (200) and Avery Galles in the 400 hurdles.

Gracie Harvey was third in the 200 meter dash and Caroline Shelly was third in the 800.

The 4×400, 4×800 and the distance medley teams were also third. The sprint medley team crossed in fourth.

Elly Berry (100), Shelly (400) and Michaela Leighting (1500) were all fifth. Emma Alstott was sixth in the 400.

“We ran really well,” Shelly said. “We had some great performances.”

The Gaels are back in action next Tuesday when they compete in the Southeast Valley Invitational.
