Humboldt sweeps indoors

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt boys and girls track teams love running at home, and for the second time this season, both came away with team titles inside their own Nielsen Center.

The boys earned 122 points and the girls had 111 as both captured the Nielsen Family High School Co-Ed Indoor Meet.

The Wildcat boys won eight events.

Aiden Christensen (57.43) won the 400-meter dash. The Wildcats went one-two-three in the 800-meter run. Eric Wittrock (2:06.99) was the victor, followed by Quinton Orr and Trevor Jacobson.

Orr (4:23.70) won the 1600. Carter Theesfeld (11:36.92) was the 3200 champion.

Christensen, Cale Hundertmark, Wittrock and Orr were the 4×400 (3:41.24) winners. Nolan Jergenss, Theesfeld, Jackson Chambers and Trevor Jacobson took the 4×800 (9:16.49).

The distance medley team of Carson Berte, Ryder Wickett, Lance Coon and Wittrock won in 3:54.63.

Jordan Coon, Sam Fischer, Christensen and Troy Gerjets were the shuttle hurdle gold medalists (40.09).

Pocahontas Area’s Trey Oehlertz was a double champion, winning the 60-meter dash (7.26) and the 200 (24.63).

Oehlertz was part of the winning 4×200 with Chase Cook, Luke Vanderham and Michael Vonnahme (1:40.80).

The Wildcat girls won seven events. Paige DeWinter (28.80) and Lily Groat (10.12) took the 200-meter dash and the 60-meter hurdles, respectively. Kendal Clark grabbed gold in the shot put (42-10).

Jori Hajek, Rylie Satern, Alexis Hansen and DeWinter won the 4×200 (1:55.76). DeWinter, Hansen, Addison Thompson and Groat crossed first in the 4×400 (4:34.41).

The quartet of Kinzie Peyton, Allison Hoag, Kali Beaman and Brett Harklau were champs in the 4×800 (11:45.18).

Hajek, Groat, Satern and Macey Varangkounh secured gold in the shuttle hurdle relay (43.10).

Pocahontas Area’s Paige Melohn was the 3000 winner (13.50.76).
