Another win for Triton women

The Iowa Central women have found the perfect balance, taking advantage of five players scoring in double figures to down Southeastern here Saturday evening, 80-65.

Isabell West had her 22nd career double-double, scoring 22 points with 13 rebounds while Nevaeh Galloway added 17 and Taylor McKinney 12 off the bench.

Autumn Dykstra finished with 11, including a couple key 3-pointers late as the Tritons (10-7 overall, 10-7 in ICCAC) won for the sixth consecutive time.

“You want to be playing your best basketball at this time of year,” Iowa Central head coach Brian Ortmeier said. “I feel like we’re doing that. We’ve found a good balance of inside and outside shooting here as of late.”

McKinney, a former Webster City standout, missed a handful of games after suffering a concussion. The freshman came on, hitting two triples and adding six rebounds.

“We saw some flashes of the old Taylor against Iowa Lakes,” Ortmeier said. “I think being out kept her from getting into a rhythm again right away, but she had a big game (Saturday).”

Iowa Central was 15-for-35 from the field and made five 3-pointers in the opening 20 minutes. They finished the game with eight triples and also out-rebounded Southeastern (3-17, 3-15) by 20.

Galloway also had eight rebounds and blocked two shots with a team-high four assists. Carley West had 11 points, five boards and two steals.

The Tritons have reeled off wins over Ellsworth, Southwestern, Northeast, Iowa Lakes and Southeastern twice in March. They close out the regular season at No. 12 Des Moines Area and vs. Kirkwood.
