COUNCIL BLUFFS — Izaih Clark didn’t waste any time making a splash in Arenacross, as the Fort Dodge native turned in seven Top-five performances this weekend at the Hoosier Racing Tire Arenacross Nationals.

Clark, a 2019 Fort Dodge Senior High graduate, earned his pro license less than a year ago, and has been itching to hit the track.

In his first ever pro race, Clark was able to compete in his home state, racing in the fifth and sixth rounds of the Hoosier events in Council Bluffs.

“I learned everyone in the class (250) is fast,” Clark said. “Everyone races hard and they are very aggressive.

“That is something I have to get used to. It was a great experience and I got more comfortable as it went.”

This weekend was the fifth and sixth rounds of the nationals. On Friday in the 250 class Clark finished fourth and sixth and wrapped up the weekend with third and fourth place finishes. He earned 33 points and is in the 15th overall spot.

In the 450 class he started with fourth and fifth place showings and ended Saturday with two third place spots. He earned 36 points and is ranked 12th.

“It went really good for the first time out,” Clark said. “I didn’t know exactly what I was getting into with the competition, but it was good to get out and race and see where I stood.”

With the COVID-19 pandemic, everything has been a day-to-day decision if events would be held. What’s next for Clark is up in the air as far as where he will be racing, but he is excited to be on the track.

“With COVID-19 it’s been slowing things down, even on the track,” Clark said. “There was supposed to a race next weekend in Tennessee, but that got canceled because of COVID.”

Clark was proud to be out on the bike in the pro circuit for the first time and has had plenty of support in his corner on his way to success.

“A lot of people have been there for me and been in my corner,” Clark said. “My parents and my family have been a big part of my success. Storm Lake Honda, Buddy Brooks and Tilube have been in my corner along with many other people.”
