Fireworks display at Sports Park Raceway tonight

Kemna Auto of Fort Dodge serves as the main sponsor for the show, open to the public after racing action

Sports Park Raceway will offer a full fireworks display for the fans, competitors and crew members during the track’s “Firecracker Special” — sponsored by Kemna Auto of Fort Dodge — on Friday night.

“We want this to be something really big to shows our thanks to everybody who has been so supportive in helping my family and our staff get this track up and running,” said Sports Park Raceway promoter Andy Jones. “We will keep investing and growing, and plan to one day have a facility that is unmatched.”

Friday’s event will feature the Summit USRA Weekly Racing Series with five classes in action: USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA B-Mods, Pickett Salvage USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners.

Pit gates open at 4:30 p.m. Spectator gates open at 5. The driver meeting is at 6:45 p.m., with hot laps at 7 and racing at 7:30.

Tickets are $12 for adults. Seniors (62 or older) are $10. Juniors (age 12-16) are $5, and kids 11 and under are free.

Pit Passes are $30, or $20 for youth age 6-10. Kids 5 and under are free in the pits.

The fireworks show will start at the conclusion of the races, at approximately 10:13 p.m. The public is encouraged to attend and enjoy the festivities. Gates will open at 9 p.m. for those interested in attending solely for the fireworks.

C&S Products serves as another main sponsor of the display. Pepsi, Baker Electric, Dan Ball Plumbing, Fort Dodge Ford Toyota, Oberhelman Motorsports and Justin Nelson are other sponsors.

The fireworks show will also be on Facebook Live at the Kemna Auto Fort Dodge page.

Friday’s event will be the second of two straight nights of racing at the half-mile clay oval located just south of Fort Dodge. On Thursday, the Christie Door Company Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA Stock Cars and USRA B-Mods was in action, along with Pickett Salvage USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA Tuners.

Sports Park Raceway is located 0.9 mile north of US 20 on US 169, then a half-mile east on 230th in Fort Dodge.
