Dream come true

—Submitted photo FORT DODGE’s izaih clark has had a lifelong dream of becoming professional Supercross rider. At the end of February the 2019 FDSH graduate earned his indoor racing licences.

Since he was two years old Izaih Clark has dreamed of riding his motorcycle as his career.

That dream became a reality in Dallas, Texas when Clark accumulated enough points to earn his Supercross (indoor racing) pro card.

“It was pretty cool to be able to get my pro card,” Clark said. “I’ve always dreamed about turning pro and to be able to do it is a great feeling.”

Clark, a 2019 Fort Dodge Senior High graduate, has been carving his groove on tracks around the nation and the seven time Loretta Lynn national qualifier (Rocky Mountain ATV/MC AMA Amateur National Motocross Championship), has been hard at work to earn his professional status.

While in Dallas, Clark finished sixth in 250A Futures and first in college boy. The previous weekend he was ninth in Futures and fourth in College Boy, which brought him halfway to the point total for his pro license.

His success in the four races, all came after recovering for two months from a broken collar bone.

“A lot of hardwork goes into Supercross,” Clark said. “I train five days a week down in Oklahoma and I’m always continuing to work at it.

“Not only is it training on the track, but also in the gym.”

Clark joins a long list of riders from Fort Dodge who have joined the pro ranks.

“There have been a lot of successful riders in Fort Dodge and I want to be in those shoes and there is no reason I can’t,” Clark said. “Chad Pederson, Justin Brayton, Gavin Faith and Teddy Maier had strong careers and I want to be successful to.”

Clark has a lot more he wants to do before diving into the pro circuit, which includes getting his outdoor license.

“I definitely want to get my outdoor licence,” Clark said. “I want to get more points and the Loretta Lynn’s again this year and get ready for the pros.”

Once on the circuit, business will pick up as Clark will be on the track nearly every weekend trying to earn points.

“There is usually a race very weekend,” Clark said. “I just can’t wait to get in there and see where I stand.”

Clark may be the only on the bike while competing, but it takes a team and support to make everything run smoothly.

“A lot of people have been there for me and been in my corner,” Clark said. “My parents and my family have been a big part of my success. Storm Lake Honda, Buddy Brooks and Tilube have been in my corner along with many other people.”
