WRESTLING PREVIEW: Fort Dodge at Marshalltown

THE ACTION: Fourth-ranked (Class 3A) Fort Dodge heads to The Roundhouse to meet Marshalltown. Junior varsity wrestling is set for 6:30 p.m. with varsity to start at 7:30 p.m.

PROBABLE DODGER LINEUP: 106 – Max Bishop, fr., (17-9); 113 – Lane Cowell, jr., (21-5); 120 – Drake Ayala, jr., (28-0); 126 – Carson Taylor, sr., (25-2); 132 – Brooks Cowell, sr., (21-6); 138 – Dreyzon Phillips, jr., (23-6); 145 – Brandon Mills, sr., (19-8); 152 – Kody Cook, jr., (12-9); 160 – Savion Wheat, sr., (10-15); 170 – Dylan Zimmermann, jr., (8-9); 182 – Austin Lee, sr., (15-12); 195 – Kaden Lynch, soph., (1-3); 220 – Sawyer Springer, jr., (12-14); 285 – Colton Munter, sr., (12-16).

LAST TIME OUT: The Dodgers took part in the annual Beat the Streets Brawl in Chicago, facing off against a number of top-ranked teams from around the nation. Fort Dodge finished eighth overall.

RANKED DODGERS: Nine Fort Dodge wrestlers are currently ranked led by No. 1 and defending state champion Drake Ayala. Lane Cowell (seventh), Carson Taylor (second), Brooks Cowell (seventh), Dreyzon Phillips (third), Brandon Mills (seventh), Kody Cook (eighth), Austin Lee (10th) and Levi Egli (second) are also in the Top-10 of their respective weight classes.

ABOUT THE BOBCATS: Marshalltown features ranked wrestlers in Bennett Hageman (eighth, 138 pounds), Carson Williams (eighth, 220) and Jordan Anderson (fourth, 285). The Bobcats own dual victories over Des Moines Roosevelt, Urbandale and Mason City.

THIS WEEKEND: After battling the Bobcats, Fort Dodge will head to Waverly for the Rick Caldwell Invitational hosted by No. 1 (3A) Waverly-Shell Rock. Joining the third-ranked Dodgers and host Go-Hawks will be Boone, fifth-ranked (3A) Iowa City West, Saint Ansgar, Waterloo East and West Branch.
