Gael boys can’t slow Cadets

IOWA FALLS — The St. Edmond boys found the going tough here Thursday on the road, falling to Iowa Falls-Alden, 73-45.

Cael Kolacia led the way for the Gaels with 13 points while Jed Tracy added six. Connor Bocken, Quinten McCarville and Anthony Lacina chipped in five each.

The Cadets jumped out to a 21-9 lead after the first quarter and led by 20 at the break. Karson Sharar scored a game-high 24 points.

“They really got out after us,” SEHS head coach Adolph Kochendorfer said. “They shot the ball really well right off the bat. We were able to cut it to 13 in the third, but we had a lapse and it got back up to 20.”

Iowa Falls-Alden, coached by Michael Collison, hit 16 three-pointers in the game. Sam Weaver added 17 points and Brody Steinfeldt 10.

St. Edmond will look to snap a three-game losing skid when they head to Clear Lake Friday night. This marked the second of four consecutive road games for the Gaels.

“It’s a tough schedule and this was a tough place to play,” Kochendorfer said. “We are really being tested right now and will have to dig deep.”
