MASON CITY — The third-ranked Fort Dodge wrestling team cruised to a 77-3 win over CIML Iowa Conference foe Mason City on Monday night.

The Dodgers won eight of the nine matches wrestled, all by fall.

No. 7 Brandon Mills (145), eighth-ranked Kody Cook (152), Savion Wheat (160), Dylan Zimmermann (170), Colten Munter (285), Max Bishop (106) No. 10 Brooks Cowell (132) and No. 3 Dreyzon Phillips (138) all earned falls for the Dodgers.

“Our intensity level was pretty good,” Thompson said. “We got right on them from the get go. Mills, Cook and Wheat started it out with quick falls. Zimmermann and Munter had falls, and then Bishop (followed suit).

“Brooks and Dreyzon finished off the dual with two big wins over a ranked and formerly ranked guy.”

Cowell, who is ranked 10th, pinned 9th-ranked Connor Wiemann in 11 seconds.

Mills (26 seconds), Cook (26), Wheat (43) and Bishop (30) all earned falls in the first period. Zimmerman pinned Aidan Colby in 3:51, while Munter earned a fall in 1:25.

Phillips capped the victory with a fall over Cooper Wiemann in 4:27.

No. 10 Austin Lee (182), Kaden Lynch (195), Reco Jolly (22), Zach Reeck (120) and No. 1 Drake Ayala (126) all won by forfeit.

Mason City’s fifth-ranked Jace Rhodes won a tight 5-1 decision over Fort Dodge’s seventh-ranked Lane Cowell at 113 pounds.

The Dodgers are back in action on Friday when they head to Pleasant Hill for the CIML Invitational.
