The Fort Dodge football team is in the 15th playoff spot and their final opponent, Marshalltown is 18th — making Friday’s contest a virtual win and you’re in scenario for the Dodgers.

Fort Dodge (5-3 overall, 1-3 Class 4A, District 2) is coming off a 57-0 lopsided victory over Sioux City West and the Bobcats (5-3, 1-3) lost to No. 6 Southeast Polk 49-21.

With a victory, the Dodgers will reach the playoffs for the second straight season and fourth time in the past six years.

Third-ranked Algona (8-0, 4-0) is sitting second in the Class 2A RPI. The Bulldogs will finish the season at home against Southeast Valley (5-3, 2-2), who is currently 14th.

The Jaguars won the district title last year with a victory over the Bulldogs. Algona is coming off a 34-32 victory over then No. 9 Spirit Lake. The Bulldogs have reached the quarterfinals last season.

Sixth-ranked South Central Calhoun (8-0, 4-0), who is ninth in RPI will end against Pocahontas Area (5-3, 3-1) which is 26th in the rankings. The Titans were quarterfinalists a year ago.
