Fort Dodge 16th in Class 4A RPI

The Fort Dodge football team remains in the Top-16 after the second release of the prep football RPI rankings.

After suffering their third straight loss to a ranked opponent, the Dodgers (4-3 overall) are rated 16th in the newest poll.

The Dodgers (4-3) fell to No. 4 Ankeny Centennial, 56-29 last Friday.

Senior Tysen Kershaw became the school’s all-time leading receiver and first to go over 2,000 yards with a nine catch, 80 yard, two touchdown performance. Kershaw became just the 11th receiver in Class 4A history to surpass the 2,000-yard mark.

Kershaw has 140 catches and 2,28 yards in his career.

The Dodgers will finish the season with two home contests. Fort Dodge will face Sioux City West on Friday and end the season with Marshalltown.

Cedar Falls, and Valley are the top two in 4A, followed by Ankeny Centennial, Dowling and Cedar Rapids Kennedy.

In Class 3A, Webster City (5-2) is sitting in the 22nd spot a week after beating Humboldt 27-21 behind a four-touchdown, 306 yard game from Trey Mathis. Solon and Western Dubuque are the 3A leaders.

Third-ranked Algona (7-0) jumped to the second spot in 2A, behind only Waukon. Clear Lake, OABCIG and Waterloo Columbus round out the Top-5 with Greene County sitting in sixth.

Southeast Valley (4-3) is 19th after suffering their second straight loss.

Fifth-ranked and unbeaten South Central Calhoun (7-0) is 11th. Van Meter (7-0) is No. 1 in Class 1A, with West Branch and Western Christian next in line.

Faced with a tough schedule, Emmetsburg (3-4) is 19th and Pocahontas Area (4-3) is 31st. East Sac County (2-5) is 38th.

Bishop Garrigan (4-3) is 25th. West Hancock, St. Ansgar, MVL MarMac and North Tama are atop Class A.

In eight-man, Newell-Fonda (5-2) is 22nd. Anita Cam, Turkey Valley, Don Bosco, Easton Valley and Remsen St. Mary’s lead eight-man.

In this week’s prep rankings, South Central Calhoun moved up to the fifth spot in Class 1A and received one first place vote. Dike-New Hartford is the top squad.

Algona remained third in Class 2A, with Waukon and Clear Lake in the top two positions.

Valley (4A), Western Dubuque (3A), West Hancock (A) and Don Bosco (eight-man) are the other top-ranked teams.
