Dodgers win eight events

WEST DES MOINES — The Fort Dodge girls swim team had a strong showing against one of the top teams in the state in West Des Moines Valley on Tuesday.

The Tigers defeated the Dodgers 107-73, but the Dodgers won eight of the 12 events.

Eileen Fierke, Madigan Peimann and Grace Hartley were all double winners for the Dodgers.

“We had a ton of great performances,” said Fort Dodge head coach Ashley Beaumont. “Eileen, Madigan and Grace winning both was huge. Rylie (Steinkamp) had a personal best in the fly.

“When they have close to 70 swimmers and we only have 19 and lose by only 34, I’m pretty happy.”

Fierke won the 200 freestyle (2:01.09) by more than four seconds. Fierke was also the 100 freestyle winner in 55:96.

Hartley was the 200 IM champion (2:15.73) and the 500 freestyle winner in 5:25.76.

Peimann (25.76) edged Valley’s Alison Watt in the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke (1:02.21)

The quartet of Peimann, Hartley, Elora Fierke and Eileen Fierke won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:44.24.

Eileen Fierke, Hartley Elora Fierke and Peimann earned gold in the 400 freestyle relay by two seconds in 3:46.29.

Finishing second for the Dodgers was Rylie Steinkamp (100 butterfly).

Fort Dodge is back in action on Thursday at Carroll vs. the Tigers and Spencer.
