The Fort Dodge girls swim team put together a strong finish to a long six-day stretch here inside the Dodger pool Thursday night.

Behind a sweep of all 11 varsity races, Fort Dodge bested both Algona (110-45) and Perry (115-15) in duals. The Bulldogs topped the Bluejays, 95-21.

Senior captain Elora Fierke and junior Grace Hartley were both individual double race winners, with Madigan Peimann, Eileen Fierke, Morgan Border and Rylie Steinkamp also capturing golds.

The Dodgers swept the three relays, placing first in the 200 medley, 200 free and 400 free. Eileen Fierke swam on all three, with Elora Fierke, Steinkamp, Peimann and Hartley helping on two of them.

“It was just a really great night,” FDSH head coach Ashley Beaumont said. “The girls got the chance to finish up this stretch strong and compete in some different events. And for some of the younger girls, this was a great chance to perform well and gain some confidence and experience as we prepare for the final stretch of meets.”

Elora Fierke was first in both the 50 free (27.24) and 100 back (1:09.03), along with competing on the 200 medley (2:01.45) and 400 free (3:56.31) relays.

Hartley picked up top finishes in the 200 I.M. (2:21.31) and 100 breaststroke (1:14.38), with additional victories coming on the 200 medley and 400 free.

Eileen Fierke and Steinkamp rounded out the 200 medley, Steinkamp, Border and Peimann the 200 free, and Peimann the 400 free.

“Our relays really looked strong,” Beaumont said. “The girls have had some tough meets here recently, but they continue to perform well in the pool.”

Steinkamp, a junior, impressed her coach with her 500 free swim, placing first in 5:54.87. Peimann, also a senior captain, won the 200 free (1:59.85), Eileen Fierke, a ninth-grader, the 100 butterfly (1:06.64) and Border, a senior, the 100 free (1:02.95).

“Rylie had a really nice night, especially in the 500,” Beaumont said. “It was just really important to see the girls come out, have fun and gain some confidence.”

Flores, a senior, was second in both the 200 free and 100 back, with Border (200 I.M.) and Steinkamp (50 free) adding silvers. Makenna Kammerer was the runner-up in the 500 free, as was the 400 free relay of Claire Kienzle, Kammerer, Maria Elizondo and Flores.

Earning junior varsity wins for the Dodgers were Kammerer (50 free), Emma Johnston (100 free), Olivia Anderson (100 back) and Kienzle (100 breaststroke). The 200 medley relay of Anderson, Jalen Adams, Elizondo and Johnston, along with the 400 free relay of Isabelle Berger, Lillian Shin, Dylan Saathoff and Hope Miller were also first place finishers.

For Algona, Emma Ross (100 butterfly), Cathryn Houge (100 breaststroke) and the 200 free relay of Aliyah Buscher, Houge, Madi Gifford and Cheyanne Fries all placed second.

Next action for FDSH will be Tuesday when they travel to Southeast Polk. Fort Dodge does not swim at home again until Tuesday, Oct. 15 when they welcome Mason City.
