Fort Dodge golfers earn another victory
The Fort Dodge boys golf team won their second meet in less than a week, topping Mason City here Tuesday, 169-171, at the Fort Dodge Country Club.
Mason Bowman was tied for medalist honors to lead the Dodgers, firing a 39. Gavin Strain was runner-up with a 41.
“The wind was a big factor during play, which wasn’t ideal, but the boys found a way to string a couple of good scores together,” FDSH head coach Mike Mericle said. “I knew the boys were tired and wore out from playing so much golf these last two weeks, and I knew it was going to be a grind, but they really came together.
“Mason’s score was a huge boost for not only himself, but to the team as well.”
Isaac Hage a 44 and Nolan Daniel added a 45 for the Dodgers.
Logan McIlrath led the Fort Dodge junior varsity to a 199-202 win with a 45.
Next action for the Dodgers will be Thursday at Waukee.
