FDSH introduces ‘Spirit Walk’
Football team will arrive to fan-friendly event, sponsored by Dodger Grid Club
Fort Dodge is enhancing its game-day football experience this season with the support of the newly-formed Dodger Gridiron Club.
The football program announced this week that it will host a “Spirit Walk” before all five home games this season. FDSH kicks off the 2019 campaign against rival Mason City on Friday.
Varsity players will exit a bus at the Dodger Courts on 10th Ave. N. and walk together to the stadium at 5:30 p.m. There will be food with a free-will donation, games and an obstacle course set up by the National Guard south of the locker-room area for fans to enjoy — all sponsored by the Dodger Gridiron Club.
The general public is encouraged to attend. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.
“We wanted to personalize the experience for fans a little more and give them the chance to line up and cheer on the players as they (arrive at Dodger Stadium),” FDSH head coach Miller said. “It’s an opportunity to enjoy some fun family activities and get together to both support the team and get excited about our games.
We only have five of them here (in 2019), so we want to make the most of each one.”
The Dodger Gridiron Club is a tax-exempt, non-profit organization whose sole purpose is to help promote and financially support the game of football for student-athletes in Fort Dodge. According to their website, Ryan Smith serves as the president, with Mark McBride (treasurer) and Sam Moser (secretary) joined by Trent Cook, Jeff Daniel, Steve Good, Wayne Mason, Mark Miller and Rod Riessen on the board.
