Clarksville ace Kori Wedeking has nobody to blame for her no-hit bid coming up an out short but herself.

Wedeking allowed just a two-out base hit to Emma Fogarty in the seventh here Monday, leading the third-ranked Indians to a 5-0 victory over No. 9 Bishop Garrigan in the Class 1A quarterfinals.

Next up for Clarksville (32-1 overall) will be second-ranked Lisbon, which downed Wayne, 1-0.

After getting two quick outs in the seventh, Wedeking was unable to retire Fogarty. She responded to record the final out, finishing with 11 strikeouts against the Golden Bears (29-7).

“I said in the dugout that I hope I don’t give up a hit (in the top of the seventh),” Wedeking admitted. “I guess I’ve got to not talk about it.”

Wedeking, a junior, helped Clarksville reach the 1A finals two years ago as a 10th-grader. She is now 28-1 on the year with 267 strikeouts, with the lone loss coming to fellow semifinalist Collins-Maxwell, who is ranked No. 1 and the defending state champions.

“We came out a lot better than two years ago in terms of nerves,” Wedeking said. “That really helped. Everything I was throwing was working pretty good with them swinging at pitches I wanted them to swing at. This is a big confidence boost for the next two days.”

Bishop Garrigan, which upset state runner-up AGWSR in the regional final, features a roster without a single senior.

Amanda Miller allowed just seven hits and three earned runs, striking out one. She was also hit-by-a-pitch to reach base in the first.

“Getting to state was step one,” BGHS head coach Wendi Meister said. “I know this team is not satisified with just getting here. We’ll play hard (Tuesday) and see what happens.”

The Golden Bears will face off against Wayne on Tuesday at Veterans Field at 11:30 a.m.

For Clarksville, Cheyenne Behrends was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.

Makenzie Bloker also drove in two runs for the Indians, who have won nine in a row since the loss to Collins-Maxwell. They have picked up four consecutive shutouts during this run.
