Humboldt junior blanks Iowa Falls-Alden
IOWA FALLS — Humboldt junior ace Ellie Jacobson fired a one-hit shutout on Wednesday against Iowa Falls-Alden as the third-ranked (Class 3A) Wildcats routed the Cadets, 10-0.
The victory was the 100th of Jacobson’s career. She struck out 12 and walked only one for Humboldt (25-2 overall), lowering her ERA to 0.72 for the year. Jacobson (25-2) has struck out 278 batters.
Carlie Thompson was 3-for-5 with two runs scored and a pair of stolen bases. Mady Lange, Kendal Clark, Addie Thompson and Jacobson all added two hits each, while Jori Hajek scored three times. Clark homered and drove in a pair.
Lange doubled and Hajek tripled for the Wildcats, who plated two runs in the third, four more in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Iowa Falls-Alden is now 6-22.
