HUMBOLDT — The St. Edmond baseball team dropped a 6-3 decision to Humboldt here Friday night.

Noah Carlson was 2-for-3 with a run scored, with Cael Kolacia and Gage Johnson each drove in a run for the Gaels.

“Noah and a good night at the plate,” SEHS head coach Mike Szalat said. “We are playing good teams well, we just had too many balls hit up and didn’t put enough balls in play.”

Owen Newton led the Wildcats with a pair of doubles, going 4-for-4 with three RBI and a run scored. Hudson Gargano scored twice and Jacob Thurm drove in a run.

Peyton Scott went five innings on the mound, striking out five batters and allowing just four hits. Cade Witzke tossed a complete-game, striking out three for Humboldt.

“Witzke is a good pitcher and we finally got to him in the sixth with three runs,” Szalat said. “Peyton pitched well enough to win and did a nice job, as well, on the mound.”

The Gaels return to action Monday when they host Algona.
