Faiferlick sponsoring ‘closest to the pin’ contest

There will be plenty of incentive on the par-3s for golfers participating in the 39th annual Fort Dodge Ford Lincoln Toyota Webster County tournament on July 13 and 14.

Justin Faiferlick, an Iowa Guard officer and the owner of Faiferlick Martial Arts in Fort Dodge, is sponsoring a closest-to-the-pin contest at both the Fort Dodge Country Club and Lakeside for the entire tourney field.

The competitions will take place on Saturday at Lakeside for the men on holes 2, 9, 14 and 17, and at the Country Club for the women on holes 2, 8, 11 and 13. Winners will receive $100 in cash at each hole, meaning $800 of total prize money is on the table between the two courses.

Faiferlick and his wife, Deann, have been county tournament regulars through the years, as have their son, Michael, and daughter, Kelsey — a seven-time women’s open division champion.

Justin Faiferlick was recently named the taekwondo team manager for the United States at the 2019 Summer Universiade Games in Italy next month. He currently serves as the Iowa Central Community College men’s and women’s coach, and is also the head coach for the United States Air Force men’s and women’s teams.

On-line registration is set up for all tournament participants this year at https://fdcc-2019citytournament1.golfgenius.com. Click on the “Register Now For 2019 City Tournament” tab on the bottom left-hand side of the page.

The men’s open and senior division fields are asked to visit Lakeside (515-576-6741) with questions, concerns or if help is needed signing up. The women should go to the Country Club (955-8551).

All Webster County residents and workers are eligible to participate in the event, which has attracted nearly 8,000 golfers since The Messenger obtained sponsorship in 1980.
