Bre Tjebben, Cheyenne Andersen and Sophie Cave were all named to the Region XI softball first team.

The Iowa Central trio were joined on the second team by Payton Adwell, Parker Mathews and Gabi Bingham.

Tjebben, a freshman coming off an all-state season at Fort Dodge Senior High, hit .443 with 13 homers, 54 RBI and 56 runs this year. She also had 16 walks and struck out just six times in 167 plate appearances.

“I believe we play in the toughest conference in the nation, so I am very honored to have been chosen,” Tjebben said. “I am also proud of my teammates who were selected as well. I am so happy to be part of this team.”

Andersen, a sophomore from Indianola, left her name all over the school’s record books. She hit 39 career home runs including 24 this season, both program-bests.

The University of Northern Iowa-signee batted .411 with 68 RBI, 76 runs and 20 steals this season, finishing her career with 133 runs, 152 hits, 22 doubles, eight triples, 125 RBI and 42 walks to just 30 strikeouts.

“I have worked very hard to get where I am today,” Andersen said. “This honor is very exciting.”

Cave, a freshman, finished the year with 18 homers, 62 RBI, 57 runs and a slugging percentage of .818.

“It’s an honor to get all-region,” Cave said. “I am thankful that I had the chance to get better this season and play with so many amazing athletes. They pushed me to do my best every day, especially Bre.

“Being in the middle infield with her was amazing. We clicked so well and had each other’s back.”

Adwell, a sophomore, had 26 runs and 20 RBI with a pair of homers; Mathews, a freshman, hit .425 with four homers, 62 runs and 49 RBI; Bingham, a sophomore, hit .427 with 60 runs and 48 steals.
