Treep earns medalist honors

Fort Dodge’s Anne Treep secured meet medalist honors again on Tuesday against Southeast Polk at the Country Club.

Treep recorded six pars on the front nine en route to a 41, which tied her for the top individual spot with Ram Isabelle Juhler 41. Treep secured medalist recognition through the handicap hole tiebreaker.

“Anne was a little inconsistent off the tee, but she made some nice recoveries from her bad shots,” FDSH head coach Dave Louk said. “She’s gaining more and more confidence. Her comfort level in learning the courses and feeling like she’s right there with other (top golfers in the CIML) is coming along nicely.

“She did really well on the longer holes (Tuesday) … she just got tripped up on one of the par-3s (No. 2).”

Makayla Newsom followed Treep with a 56. Maddy Major had a 66 and Alexis Kenney finished with a 67.

The Rams won the meet, 178-230.

Taylor Smith led the FDSH junior varsity with a 64.

The Dodgers return to action on Friday, hosting their own invitational at 10 a.m.
