Tritons host own golf tournament

The Iowa Central golf teams hosted their own invitational here Monday at the Fort Dodge Country Club.

Mount Mercy scored the overall team title on the men’s side by 10 strokes over Southwestern, shooting a 593 over the two-day event.

Des Moines Area was third followed by Iowa Lakes and North Iowa Area. The host Tritons were 10th overall.

For the women, Iowa Lakes was the team champion with NIACC placing second and Iowa Central finishing in fifth overall.

Individual champions were William Bruyeres of Mount Mercy, who fired rounds of 66 and 72 for an even-par 142, with Southwestern’s Bianca Findlay claiming the women’s crown with a 166 (83-83).

Leading the way for Iowa Central was Sam Peterson, who shot a 164 (81-83) to tie for 43rd overall. Jaxon Myers, a Southeast Valley graduate, finished 49th with a 166 (82-84).

Luke Jones added a 168 (87-81) to finish in a tie for 52nd and Fort Dodge Senior High grad Zach Colin placed 66th with a 183 (93-90).

Connor Shannon, a former Webster City standout, tied for ninth with a 152 (74-78) competing for DMACC.

Dylan Scheffler, a graduate of East Sac County, tied for 18th overall for DMACC with a two-day total of 154 (78-76).

For the Triton women, Taylor Thede placed 10th with a 183 (91-92), Ericka Stender finished 15th overall with a two-day score of 199 (95-104).

Mackenzie Trinkle was 19th (116-107–223) and Bryor McCuddin 20th (114-120–234).
