Dodgers claim three golds at Norwalk

NORWALK — Fort Dodge claimed three gold medals at the Norwalk Invitational boys track meet on Monday.

Sophomore Tyler Schreier captured the 100-meter dash in 11.59. The Dodgers were also victorious in the 4×100-meter relay (43.26) and 4×400 (3:29.30).

Tysen Kershaw, Dayson Clayton, Brycen Bell and Schreier comprised the 4×1. Schreier, Bell, Kershaw and Asle Thorson served as the 4×4 quartet.

James Daniel was a runner-up in the 400 (55.11), as was Trey Kasperbauer in the 400 hurdles (58.41). Anthony Wagner took third in the 400 hurdles (59.33) and fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.66).

The shuttle hurdle relay foursome of Lucas Williamson, Kasperbauer, Wagner and Thorson took silver in 1:05.59.

Pella won the meet. Fort Dodge placed fifth overall.

“We had an outstanding effort in the 4×4 — no one was really close to us competition-wise,” Dodger head coach John McBride said. “Ty had an outstanding split (50.5). Our 4×1 was a tenth of a second off the school record and had the sixth-best time in the state (so far this season). Our 4×2 (which was victorious in Des Moines on Saturday) didn’t run, but we’re third in that event (state-wide).

“I thought both Trey and Anthony ran well in the lows. We had some strong individual performances.”

Fort Dodge returns to action on Thursday at Waukee.
