ESTHERVILLE — The Iowa Central women continued their winning ways here Wednesday night, knocking Iowa Lakes out of the Region XI Tournament with a 64-55 victory.

The Tritons (18-12 overall) have now won six in a row and will meet No. 2 North Iowa Area on Saturday in the tournament semifinals. The Trojans had no troubles with Little Priest, scoring a 94-56 victory to advance.

Avery Terwilliger’s double-double paced four scorers in double figures. Terwilliger had 17 points and 11 rebounds, with Shariah Smith adding 14 points, five boards and three assists.

Brittany West had 11 points and Justice Crooks added 10 with six rebounds. Kryssie Okinaka chipped in six points off the bench and Jessica Jackson four.

Iowa Central outscored Iowa Lakes in all but the second quarter, building a six-point lead after the first. They also led by six entering the fourth.

Terwilliger and West combined for 13 of the 18 points scored by the Tritons in the fourth. Smith had seven of her 14 in the opening quarter, hitting all three of her field goal attempts.

After losing both regular season meetings with the Lakers, the Tritons controlled this contest. Iowa Central will now try to do the same to NIACC, who posted 79-62 and 74-63 victories during the year.

Shareece Smith scored a game-high 21 points, adding 11 rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. She knocked down three 3-pointers.

In the other semifinal in Mason City, Kirkwood takes on Des Moines Area at 3 p.m. The championship game is scheduled for Sunday.
