Iowa Central competes at UNI

CEDAR FALLS — The Iowa Central swim team faced off against Loras and Northern Iowa here Friday night.

The Tritons swept Loras, with the women falling to the Panthers.

Emilie Andrin was the lone swimmer to score a victory over UNI, as she won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.18.

Eve Berg was a double-winner for the Tritons, claiming the 1,000 and the 500, as was Maria Diaz, who won the 200 free and 100 free.

“For the past week-plus we have been training with no school so it has been just eat, sleep and swim.” ICCC head coach Joe Plane said. “The kids are beat up, but I was proud of the entire group for how they competed.”

Jon Gill III won the 50 free and 100 breaststroke for Iowa Central, with Marcelo Busch claiming both the 200 and 500 free events.

Mariano Sosa picked up wins in the 200 I.M. and 100 backstroke. Iowa Central is now 8-1 in duals on the men’s side and 8-2 for the women.

The Tritons return to action in Wisconsin on Jan. 26.
