Dodger girls lose on the road to Waterloo West

WATERLOO — The Fort Dodge girls basketball team was in action for the second night in a row, as they suffered a 78-24 loss to Waterloo West.

The Dodgers (0-16 overall) were led by Cheyenne Miller-Hameed’s seven points. Jebreauna Clark added six.

Waterloo West (10-6) was strong out of the gate, building a 46-9 halftime lead.

“We got behind early and big,” said Fort Dodge head coach Scott Messerly. “They were just too much for us.”

Four Waterloo West players reached double digits. NaTracia Ceaser led the way with 28 points. Lauren Conrey, Brooklynn Smith and Jada Draine had 10 points each.

“They (Waterloo West) shot lights out,” Messerly said. “They went about 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 across the front line.

“They are about 9-7 in a conference with Iowa City schools and they were a good team (tonight).”

The Dodgers are back in action on Tuesday when they travel to face Des Moines North (2-14).
