Duckett wins twice for Gaels

CARROLL — The St. Edmond wrestling team dropped duals with Carroll and Perry here Thursday night.

The Gaels lost to Carroll, 63-4, and Perry, 72-3.

Ryan Duckett was a double-winner for the Gaels, earning a major decision over Carroll’s Jaxon Kuhlmann, 12-2, and a 9-8 decision vs. Perry’s Riece Graham.

“In his match against Graham, he was down with about 46 seconds to go, but got his head out of a craddle and earned the win,” said St. Edmond head coach Eugene Carlson. “Against Kuhlmann, who lost to Graham, Ryan came out strong and controlled the match.

“We’re trying to get the team to be competitive and get some fire under them.”

Clay Kelly, Noah Carlson, Grant Webster and Nathan Russell each dropped two matches. Jonah Hindt, Tyler Rossmanith and Cayne Reed lost junior varsity bouts.

Next action for St. Edmond will be Saturday when they return here for the Tiger-Knight Invitational.
