Titans stay unbeaten

LAKE CITY –Fourth-ranked South Central Calhoun struggled in the first half against Southeast Valley, but turned on the pressure in the third quarter.

The Titans (4-0 overall) led 14-6 at halftime, but four touchdowns in the third broke open the contest, as SCC earned a 49-6 victory over the Jaguars (2-2).

Nine different Titans ran the ball to the tune of 301 yards on the ground.

Chase McAlister was the leader, running for 87 yards on eight carries and a 63-yard touchdown.

Landon Schleisman had 78 yards on eight totes with two touchdowns (33, 3). Keagen Meyer had 57 yards on 12 carries. He scored on a 12-yard run and a 27-yard interception.

Jordan Khommanyvong and Josh Henkenius each had one-yard touchdown runs.

Kyler Fisher led the ground attack for Southeast Valley, rushing for 97 yards on 17 carries. Fisher rushed for his 10th touchdown of the year from 36 yards out.

Hunter Kruse was 8-for-16 passing for 70 yards.

Nyles Johnson had four catches for 39 yards and Chase Swieter caught three balls for 30 yards.

South Central Calhoun out gained the Jaguars 333 to 166 in total offense.

Algona snaps skid vs. Lynx

ALGONA — Sixth-ranked Algona snapped a seven-game losing streak to Webster City on Friday night, compling 553 yards of total offense in a 34-21 victory.

Senior Jacob Durant led the Bulldogs (4-0 overall) on the ground, rushing for 253 yards on 27 carries and two scores. Durant had touchdown runs of 1 and 80 yards.

Wyatt Wegener rushed the ball for 115 yards on six carries and had a 92-yard score.

Quarterback Matt Grein was 8-for-16 passing for 162 yards and a 40-yard touchdown pass to Skyler Groen.

Algona had 391 yards rushing and 162 through the air.

Webster City’s Caleb Olson returned an interception 90 yards for a score.

Drake Doolittle had a 10-yard touchdown run and Trace Kepler added a one-yard score.

Dylan Steen toted the ball 12 times for 81 yards and Doolittle had 72 yards on 12 carries.

Webster City finished with 233 yards of offense, 171 coming on the ground.

N-F blocks late FG to stay perfect

NEWELL — Fourth-ranked Newell-Fonda blocked a field goal as time expired to perserve a 27-26 victory over Kingsley-Pierson.

The Mustangs (4-0 overall) scored just before halftime to cut the Kingsley-Pierson lead to 18-14.

Newell-Fonda opened the second half with a six-minute scoring drive and went up 20-18 before raising the lead to 27-18. K-P tacked on a score with five minutes to go to cut it to 27-26.

Quarterback Bryce Coppock was part of four touchdowns, rushing for two and throwing two to Hunter Christiansen (six and 19 yards).

Coppock rushed for scores of one and 33 yards. He finished with 207 yards rushing and was 4-for-8 passing for 41 yards.

Humboldt suffers loss to Spencer

HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt football team dropped a 24-12 contest to Spencer o Friday night.

Jamison Heinz threw a 17-yard touchdown pass to Joey Busse for Humboldt’s (1-3 overall) only touchdown of the night.

Senior Lucas Volf booted a 42-yard field goal and a 29-yard kick.

Tyler Vitzthum had 72 yards on 21 attempts. Volf and Jacob Weisbrich led the Wildcats in tackles with 11 each.

Manson NW can’t get past South Hamilton

MANSON — Manson Northwest Webster couldn’t match the size of South Hamilton on Friday night, as the Cougars dropped a 36-0 contest on homecoming night.

Derek Girard was 7-for-17 passing for 71 yards and Brayden Johll led the Cougars (0-4 overall) with five catches for 45 yards.
