Dresser coming to FD for C-RTC wrestling event

Pork Chop dinner, program will be Saturday at the Opera House

Kevin Dresser and his Iowa State University coaching staff will be in Fort Dodge on Saturday for a dinner and banquet supporting the Cyclone Regional Training Center.

The event, which will be at the Opera House, brings the best Iowa State wrestling has to offer in for a VIP meet-and-greet beginning at 5 p.m. An Iowa Pork Chop dinner is at 6, with the program to follow.

Dresser, a native of Humboldt and a 1981 Humboldt High School graduate, will be joined by assistants Derek St. John and Brent Metcalf. A number of Cyclone wrestlers will also be in attendance, along with C-RTC star Kyven Gadson — a former ISU national champion.

The staff speaks after the dinner, and an auction will feature Cyclone merchandise and items donated by area businesses.

General admission for the dinner and program is $50 per person. A VIP pass, which includes the one-hour meet-and-greet and an open bar, dinner and program for two people, is $250. All proceeds benefit the C-RTC.

The Cyclone Regional Training Center is affiliated with USA Wrestling, and was founded to support athletes pursuing World and Olympic medals. The RTC provides a place for athletes to train together and be coached by world-class competitors, including former members of the U.S. Olympic and World Teams.

Freestyle and Greco practices take place in the Cyclone Wrestling room in the Lied Recreation Athletic Center. Any high school wrestler who lives within 250 miles of Iowa State University and who finished in the top-four at the state folkstyle tournament or in the top-four at the state freestyle or Greco competitions is eligible to join.

All participants must have a current USA Wrestling card.
