POWER SURGE
Oberg’s blast fuels Gaels in NCC road victory over Lynx
WEBSTER CITY — The St. Edmond softball team jumped out early and never looked back, topping Webster City here Monday night, 9-4.
Jacque Oberg hit a three-run homer and also had a double, finishing 2-for-4 on the day. Audrey Kolacia, Macey Mason and Rylee Kinney all contributed two hits for the Gaels (11-5 overall, 6-1 in North Central Conference).
“The middle of our lineup came up big for us,” SEHS head coach Nick Clark said. “Jacque just crushed the ball all night. It all started with Audrey getting us going in the first as our senior leader and just continued there.
“I just love our lineup from the top to the bottom. They all can hit the ball at any given time.”
Earlier this year, St. Edmond scored an 8-7 victory over the Lynx (7-7, 2-4) at home.
Ella Vratny earned the win inside the circle.
“Ella came out and threw strikes,” Clark said. “She pitched another great game for us to help back on track.”
Haley Flaws had three hits for Webster City, with Taylor McKinney and Jenna Miller both collecting two.
The Gaels return to action on Tuesday, as they head to Eagle Grove before returning home for a date Wednesday vs. Hampton-Dumont.
