South Central Calhoun boys top PAC, SE Valley, field for title

MANSON — The South Central Calhoun boys won seven events and claimed the team championship at the Mike Jepson Invitational Tuesday in Manson.

The Titans had 130 points, while Pocahontas Area was second with 101. Southeast Valley (77) was fourth, followed by St. Edmond (71), Manson Northwest Webster (67), East Sac County (29) and Eagle Grove (20).

Spencer Moon and Chase McAlister doubled up as champs for the Titans. Moon grabbed gold in the 3200 (10:37.20) and crossed the tape first in the 1600 as well at 5:02.74.

The teammates then locked horns at the finish line in the 800. McAlister (2:04.98) edged Moon (2:04.99) by one one-hundreth of a second.

McAlister also won the 400-meter dash (51.56).

The Titans were also golden in the sprint medley (1:37.80), shuttle hurdle relay (1:00.98) and distance medley (3:56.09).

Josh Van Hulzen was second in the 110-meter hurdles (16.57).

Pocahontas Area earned four championships on the night. Cooper Christians won the high jump with a mark of 6-0. Ryan Anderson and Cade Henrickson finished 1-2 in the long jump; Anderson went 19-2.75 and Henrickson jumped 18-09.

The 4×100 (45.34) and the 4×800 (8:52.80) were also champions for PAC.

Chase Boeve was a runner-up in the 100-meter dash (11.94), and Trey Oehlertz (5:11.28) was also second in the 1600. The 4×200 team was also a silver medalist in 1:35.73.

Southeast Valley came away with the 4×200 championship in a time of 1:35.30. The Jaguars 4×800 (9:02.88) and 4×400 (3:38.53) were both runner ups.

Kyler Fisher was second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.08.

St. Edmond had five golds or silvers in the meet. Charlie Shelly was the 200-meter champion in 24.75. St. Edmond’s 4×400 also brought home gold in a time of 3:36.68.

Shelly was second in the 400 at 51.85.

St. Edmond’s sprint medley (1:39.20) and their 4×100 (46.56) also finished in second.

Cameron Krebsbach and Blake Larsen brought home titles for the host Cougars. Krebsbach (44-1) won the shot put, and Larsen (16.57) won the 110-meter hurdles.

Manson Northwest Webster was second in the shuttle hurdle relay (1:01.98).

Eagle Grove’s Spencer Espejo was second in the 3200 (10:57.87), and East Sac County’s Charlie Langner was runner-up in the 400-meter hurdles (59.81).
