Kinney, Gaels win at WC

WEBSTER CITY — St. Edmond’s Rylee Kinney earned medalist honors as the St. Edmond girls golf team won a triangular at Webster City on Thursday.

Kinney shot a 48, and the Gaels had a 207. Clarion-Goldfield/Dows was second, followed by Webster City (261).

St. Edmond’s Grace Viaene (52) tied C-G/D’s Karlie Sellner for runner-up honors. Sellner won on a scorecard playoff.

Other counting scores for the Gaels were Clare Condon (53) and Riley Mayer (54).

Also competing for the Gaels were Cameron Brown (57) and Amanda Richman (59).

“Our short game still needs work, but I’m really proud of the way the ladies played,” said SEHS head coach Kelsey Faiferlick. “It’s nice to see lower scores on the board and some smart play. We had a few personal best from some of the girls.

“Clare Condon’s new low is 53, and Cameron Brown’s new low is 57. I’m excited to come back and play at home against Algona (on Friday).”

Other counting scores for the Cowgirls were Meghan Geary (53), Cassy Mendoza (55) and Nicole Waters (55).

Webster City was led by Riley Smith (60), Ella Dinsdale (63), Peyton Hilpipre (65) and Emma Bailey (73).

The St. Edmond junior varsity was paced by Chloe Lewison (53), Hallie Ehn (60) and Hannah Zinnel (64).

The Gaels are back in action on Friday when they host Algona at Lakeside.
