Freshmen Alexis Read and Isabel Gruver were 49th and 50th, with Olivia Mitchell placing 58th and Piera McBride 59th.

Advancing to state as teams from the meet were Des Moines Roosevelt, Urbandale and Linn-Mar for the girls, with Ames, Linn-Mar and Cedar Rapids Kennedy earning the boys automatic qualifier spots.

Freshman Eric Crawford paced the Dodgers, finishing in 48th overall with a time of 18:54. Classmate Joshua Meier was 51st, Jonathon Madden was 56th and Johnathan Brandt 60th.

“I’m very proud of how our girls and boys ran,” FDSH head coach Joe Jackson said. “They all gave their best effort and finished the season with great expectations for next year.

“We have a young squad, and with dedicated offseason work, they will see improvement.”
