Fort Dodge hosts Wilde Invitational

The Fort Dodge volleyball squad will finally enjoy the comforts of the Dodger gym as they host the Jackie Wilde Invitational in their long-awaited 2017 home debut.

“It’s defintely an advantage to be at home,” said Fort Dodge head coach Tonia Burrell. “This is our first time in our gym, so hopefully, we see a lot of energy out of the girls.”

Action begins at 9 a.m., with the Dodgers facing Des Moines Christian on Court 2. Also at 9 a.m. will be Alta-Aurelia vs. Pocahontas Area.

The Dodgers will then meet Lewis Central at 10 a.m. and will face Alta-Aurelia at 11 a.m.

The championship match is at 2 p.m.

“We have a great fan base, with parents and families that show up,” Burrell said. “It’s energizing to play in front of your home crowd and have that enthusiasm in the stands.”

The Dodgers finished third in the tournament last season. Pocahontas Area was second, and Lewis Central was the champion.

Fort Dodge had wins over Des Moines Christian and Ames last season.
