Dodgers swept by Bobcats

MARSHALLTOWN — The Fort Dodge volleyball squad was swept by Marshalltown in a CIML Iowa Conference match here on Tuesday.

Scores were 25-12, 25-20 and 25-17 in favor of the Bobcats.

Head coach Tonia Burrell was hoping her team would carry over the momentum from last week’s thrilling five-game win at Ames. Instead, Fort Dodge never got on track against Marshalltown (8-5 overall).

”We were just flat,” Burrell said. ”It’s disappointing to come off a huge victory and not show nearly enough emotion. We just couldn’t find a groove.

”We have some adjustments to make. The talent is here, but we need to establish some consistency.”

Kacee Gollob had nine kills and four blocks for the Dodgers. Beth Murman and Kaden Pederson recorded 15 digs each. Josie Shirbroun tallied 13 assists.

Fort Dodge hosts the Jackie Wilde Invitational in the Dodger gym on Saturday in its 2017 home debut.
