Lynx lose to No. 2 MUSTANGS
DALLAS CENTER — The Webster City football team lost the district fight between unbeaten ranked foes on Friday night.
Second-ranked Dallas Center-Grimes (6-0 overall, 4-0 in district) knocked off the Lynx (5-1, 3-1) 20-0.
Webster City was playing without the state’s leading rusher Zane Williams.
Carter Bedford led the Lynx on the ground with 47 yards on 14 carries. Trace Kepler had 38 yards on 11 carries.
Dylan Steen was 5-for-11 passing for 37 yards. Jordan Tanner had four catches for 34 yards.
The Webster City defense held DC-Grimes to four first downs.
Steen had two interceptions and Cooper Lawson also had an interception.
Titans win ranked tilt
LAKE CITY — South Central Calhoun won the battle of unbeaten and ranked Class 2A, District 7 teams.
The ninth-ranked Titans (5-1 overall, 4-0 district) defeated No. 10 Carroll Kuemper (4-2, 3-1) 26-16.
East Sac County defeated Shenandoah 62-27, to stay undefeated in the district as well. The two squads will meet on the final Friday (Oct. 20) to end the regular season.
Chase McAlister had another big night in the end zone, rushing for three touchdowns on runs of five, five and 10. McAlister had 11 carries for 46 yards.
McAlister also had two catches for 41 yards.
Jonathon Frantz led the Titans on the ground, rushing for 101 yards on 18 carries. He had a 5.6 yard per carry average.
Hunter Muhlbauer, who was 7-for-12 passing for 101 yards, had a one-yard touchdown run as well.
Hunter Riedesel had 5.5 sacks and two interceptions.
Jared Birks had 5.5 tackles, with a sack.
Bears blank South O’Brien
PAULLINA — Fifth-ranked Bishop Garrigan earned its second shutout of the season, turning back South O’Brien 35-0.
Drew Bacha rushed for three touchdowns. He had scoring runs of 20, 17 and 11. He finished with 77 rushing yards.
Sam Vaske had a seven-yard rushing touchdown.
T.J. Schnurr caught a seven-yard scoring pass from Brad Capesius.
Zack Muller had 14 tackles and an interception.
Cade Winkel had eight tackles and a fumble recovery. Drake Buscherfeld had seven tackles.
Eagle Grove snaps skid
PANORA –Eagle Grove snapped a two-game losing streak, knocking off Panorama 29-14.
Brayden Lyman rushed and threw for over 100 yards to lead the Eagles (4-2 overall, 2-2 in district) with two touchdowns.
Lyman was 4-for-7 for 161 yards and two scores. He threw a 35-yard strike to Niko Padilla and 71-yard throw to Ryan Smith.
Lyman also ran for 113 yards on 15 carries. He had a 50-yard touchdown jaunt.
Niko Padilla had a six-yard rushing touchdown and finished with 78 yards on 19 carries.
Smith finished the night with two catches for 101 yards.
Evan Anderson had 114 yards on 24 carries.
Both Padilla and Lyman had interceptions.
Fisher leads JAGUARS, 15-6
UNDERWOOD — The Southeast Valley football team rebounded from a tough overtime loss last week, besting Underwood here Friday night, 15-6.
Kyler Fisher had two rushing touchdowns, scoring from three and seven yards out for the Jaguars (2-4 overall, 2-2 in district). He finished with 126 yards rushing on 25 carries.
Chase Swieter kicked a successful 29-yard field goal, with Hunter Kruse throwing for 72 yards.
The Southeast Valley defense held Underwood (1-5, 0-4) to 141 yards of total offense.
Humboldt can’t catch Spirit Lake
HUMBOLDT — The Humboldt football team dropped a 38-14 decision to Spirit Lake on Friday night.
Tyler Vitzthum led the Wildcats (2-4 overall, 1-3 in district) with 73 yards on 12 carries and a touchdown. Vitzthum scored from three yards out.
Jacob Thurm threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to Jamison Heinz.
Joey Busse was 5-for-16 passing for 64 yards and Thurm was 2 of 3 for 69.
Heinz caught two balls for 91 yards.
Cougars lose to No. 2 Van Meter
VAN METER — The Manson Northwest Webster football team was unable to stop second-ranked (Class 1A) Van Meter here Friday night, falling 56-0.
Derek Girard completed 9 of 19 passes for 114 yards, hitting Keegan Pritchard five times for 58 for the Cougars (3-3 overall, 2-2 in district).
The Bulldogs (6-0, 4-0) have won 23 consecutive regular season games.
