Messenger photo by Britt Kudla Junior Tyrnan Lara of Fort Dodge was named a second team all-district selection recently by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

A handful of local and area baseball players were honored by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association as all-district selections recently.

In Class 4A, Tyrnan Lara was named to the North Central second team as a third baseman. The Fort Dodge junior hit .326 with a team-high six home runs and 21 RBI.

St. Edmond’s Connor Allison and Brant Reiling were named to the Central first team for 1A, while Jake Szalat and Cole Allison garnered second team honors.

Connor Allison led the Gaels in almost every offensive category, hitting .389, driving in 14 and stealing 15 bases. Reiling batted .304 and had 13 RBI, while Szalat was 4-3 with 49 strikeouts and Cole Allison had nine steals, 13 runs driven in and hit .302.

Other first team selections included Webster City’s Max Hackbarth, Algona’s Grant Goche, Devon Clark from Humboldt, Trey Tucker of Greene County, Jace Davidson of Pocahontas Area, Kyler Steinborn of South Central Calhoun, Bishop Garrigan’s Grant Buscherfeld, and Nate Pedersen of Newell-Fonda.

Earning spots on the second team were Humboldt’s Reese DeWinter, Nick Stein of Algona, Matt Kibbie from Emmetsburg, Levi Olhausen of East Sac County, Reed Kruse and Austin Gerdes from Newell-Fonda, Manson Northwest Webster’s Donovan Perryand Joel Vaske of Bishop Garrigan.
