Garrigan edges Gaels

ALGONA — The St. Edmond baseball team dropped 4-3 contest to Bishop Garrigan on Thursday.

The Golden Bears jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning and then the Gaels cut it to 2-1. Bishop Garrigan held on after scoring two in the fourth and giving up two in the top of the fifth.

Grant Buscherfeld and Drake Buscherfeld were both 2-for-3 with a run scored for the Golden Bears. Drake drove in two runs.

Drew Bacha had two hits and an RBI and John Meis drove in a run.

Drake and Bacha both had doubles.

Cael Kolacia, Nick O’Brien and Jackson Kochendorfer had two hits for the Gaels and Kochendorfer drove in two runs. O’Brien had a double.

Andrew Meister earned the win, going 5ª innings. He struck out eight and walked two while giving up nine hits.

St. Edmond’s Nick O’Brien suffered the loss. He allowed seven hits, struck out seven and walked four.

The game was called in the sixth inning because of weather, but it went past the fifth inning, enough for an official game.

The Gaels are back in action tonight when they travel to Webster City. First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m.
