No. 10 (Class 5A) Fort Dodge got typical performances from the usual suspects here on Wednesday against Mason City.

Head coach Andi Adams knows that if her squad hopes to play at the level of their ranking, though, they’ll need production from all segments of the lineup.

The Dodgers (8-5 overall, 4-2 in the CIML Iowa Conference) received seven hits in 15 at-bats from the bottom third of the order at Rogers Park, fueling a doubleheader victory the Mohawks (4-8, 2-4) at Rogers Park.

Scores were 14-4 and 6-5 in favor of FDSH.

Sophomore Aubrey Davis drove in Maggie Harvey with a walk-off single in the nightcap, as the Dodgers rallied late to complete the sweep. Davis and Harvey delivered the late heroics, but Fort Dodge was only in a position to win thanks to No. 8 hitter Tehya Miller, who came through with a clutch two-out RBI single the inning before.

Miller, a sophomore leftfielder, went 3-for-6 with a double and two RBI in the twinbill. Senior first baseman Mack Provin, hitting one spot ahead of Miller, was 2-for-2 in the opener and reached base five times in six total at-bats.

”It goes without saying that when we get an effort like that from our 7, 8 and 9 hitters, it just makes us more dangerous,” Adams said. ”Tehya had a great night. Even her outs were hard-hit balls. Her (run-scoring single in the sixth of Game 2) was absolutely huge, obviously (the Dodgers trailed 5-4 at the time). And Mack really worked the counts and had a productive night also.

”We used every person in our dugout (last night). This was a true and total team sweep.”

Fort Dodge put on an offensive clinic in the opener, banging out 17 hits in just four innings of work. Senior Meagan Hartman was 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI, while Harvey also registered three hits. Freshman Loghen Schnetzer ripped a three-run homer during a five-run fourth that saw 10 Dodgers bat.

Miller, Davis and Provin all recorded two hits, as did Bre Tjebben. Davis drove in three.

Freshman Katelyn Werning picked up the game-one victory, working 4• innings and allowing three earned runs. Hartman recorded the final two outs for the save.

Fort Dodge looked to be well on its way in the second contest as well after plating two first-inning runs. The Mohawks pulled ahead 3-2 in the second, however, and went back ahead at 5-4 in the top of the sixth.

Hartman led off the bottom of the frame with her fifth hit — Mason City never did retire her in six plate appearances — and Daphne Alstott reached on a fielder’s choice. Miller then brought Alstott home with a clean two-out single to left.

Harvey doubled to the wall to start the bottom of the seventh in a 5-5 contest. She stole third base uncontested, and Davis ripped a sharp single to right that ended it.

Davis was 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Hartman and Harvey contributed two hits each.

Werning worked a scoreless seventh to pick up another win.

”There are no easy nights in the CIML; you can’t assume anything,” Adams said. ”Mason City gave us everything we could handle (in the nightcap). We had to grind that one out, which was good to see.

”Meagan and Aubrey were terrific. And Maggie was bound and determined to finish that game; after she doubled (and yelled into the dugout while standing on second base), I thought she was going to run right through me (in the coaches’ box) when she stole third.”

Fort Dodge heads to Clarke of Osceola for a non-conference affair on Thursday.
